ＣＦＯの仕事について、その概要と心構えを知りたい方にお勧めしたい本である。
どちらかというと、営業部門の方や新入社員の方といった初学者向けで、実務のノウハウを求める財務畑の方には物足りないかもしれない。
経営環境の複雑化、すなわち直接金融の台頭によりステークホルダーが多様化していること、コンプライアンス遵守を求める気風の増加しており、リスク管理の幅が大きくなってきていることにより、もはやＣＥＯのみでは対処しきれない。
よって、対等な共同経営者として、ＣＦＯが必要だと主張している。
ＣＦＯの役割として、大きく四つ挙げている。
・戦略意思決定
・財務戦略の策定
・Ｂ／Ｓ、Ｐ／Ｌのカイゼン
・ＩＲ
である。
本書では、「戦略意思決定」こそが従来の経理部長、財務部長と異なる点であると強調されている。「戦略意思決定」とは、将来の市場環境を見越した上で、ヒトモノカネの配分を決めることであると定義している。
そして、この「戦略意思決定」には、「先が読める」ことがセットになっていなければならないようだ。
しかし、「先が読める」といっても、市場環境の先を読むことは、実業から遠いＣＦＯには難しいであろう。
ならば、おのずからＣＥＯもしくはＣＯＯが策定した企業戦略に対して予測される財務上のインパクトを元に言を為すということになるだろう。
つまり受動的である。
であれば、本当に従来の経理部長、財務部長とその役割が異なるのであろうか。
会社、人材によるのであろうが、素人である私には、その点が腹に落ちなかった。

This book is kind of what for a beginners rather than an expert who are engaged a financial works, to seek know-how on financial duties.
The author said that business environment has been going to more complicated, direct finance becomes a major way of financing, a company has been required to keep on compliance.
Therefore, CEO would not deal with the complicated business environment alone.
Four major duties of CFO are shown us in this book.
・Strategic decision-making
・Building financial strategy
・Improving B/S and P/L
・IR
“Strategic decision-making is highlighted as a difference between a chief controller and financial director. “Strategic decision-making” is “Logistics”, to adequately and timely allocate Human-assets, Products and Funds.
In addition, this decision-making must contain a right vision to where a industry which the company belongs is going on.
However, if the CFO want to be a prophet, it is too difficult that the CFO could not make a good prediction of future business environment of the industry because he or she would be away from actual business his or her company does.
So, he or she is passive, actually shows a possible financial influence on the company for CEO or COO.
Therefore, I don’t understand what the difference between the chief controller and financial director on a role.
Needless to say, the difference depends on each company and each person, but I am still confused.
