The Saratoga branch of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's department is looking
for
a man suspected a kidnapping attempt at Saratoga Elementary School
on Thu, Oct. 28. I wanted to share this with all of you so we can
be on high alert in case he decides to try any other local elementary
schools tomorrow, and also to assist in the apprehension of this criminal.
Here are the details:
A man in a pickup truck approached a group of three kids (3rd and
4th graders) standing near the curb by Saratoga Elementary on Oak St,
between 1:30 and 2 pm on Thu, Oct. 28. He said he'd give them $100 if
they took a ride with him. He even threw a real $100 bill out the window
to lure them in. One of the kids walked toward the truck to pick up the bill
on the ground while others ran back to the school to raise the alarm.
Nearby parents responded and approached his vehicle before the kid got in.
The driver took off, leaving the $100 bill behind on the sidewalk.
Here's the description:
Old White Ford/Chevy Pickup, 90s
Loudish engine - potentially just heavy roar from punching on the gas pedal
but might have muffler problem
White male, receding light-colored hair, sideburns, Middle aged
Has a medium sized dog - Boxer or Jack Russell Terrier mix type of dog
Their school let out at 12:30 pm, so this was after the big exit rush but
there were still a couple dozen kids lingering around.
If you see anyone who fits this description, please call 911 or the Saratoga
Sherriff: 868-6600.
