I gave a presentation on the prospectus for my Ph.D. dissertation at a meeting with my three mentors on January 31.

I was so glad that they approved my prospectus and said it was getting organized much better. (´∀`)

I cannot how many times I got depressed the past year and I was waiting for this moment..... I must say I'm so grateful to my husband and mom for supporting me with study in various aspects with aloha for a long time, and to one of my mentors for giving me constructive advice.

Here is my shedule advised by them.

May 2008 --- Give a presentation at an academic conference

July 2008 --- Submit a paper based on the presentation

January 2009 --- Complete my Ph.D. dissertation in Japanese (if it's possible, in English)

and submit them to my mentors provisionally

February 2009 --- Faculty members give the green light to my project at a faculty meeting

May or June 2009 --- Take an oral examination & get a Ph.D.

I'll do my best! *:..。o○☆゚・:,。*:..。o○☆

Today I went to university to listen to an oral PhD. exam of one of my friends. After the exam, I hang out with friends including her at a cafe to talk about Ph.D. dissertations and studying in general. I think I learned many important things from them.

Actually, the thought-provoking get-together encouraged me to concentrate all my energy into my Ph.D. dissertation. I am going to have a meeting with my three mentors at the end of this month to discuss my work.

My NEW schedule:

Give a presentation at an academic conference in May, 2008

Submit a tentative dissertation by October, 2008 and get ready for a preexamination....?

I think I need to figure out the process more to set up a new schedule.

My husband and I enjoyed rice cake making at my parents' place.

I invited R-chan, a Tawanese friend from my graduate school, to the family

event because I thought it would be a good experience to learn a Japanese

custom for her. We were glad that she enjoyed it.

Thank you, Mom and Dad for hosting the interesting event!

We made a short trip to pray in two shrines to be blessed with a healthy baby.

First, we visited Tagata Jinjya, a shrine delicated to male gods.

Then we visited Ooagata Jinjya, a shrine dedicated to female gods.

I was very impressed by the sacred and historical place.

We wrote down our wish on a pictorial offering (ema) below.

On our way home, we had ramen. It was good!

My husband and I enjoyed Christmas dating around Nagoya Station on December 24.

There were many Christmas trees and an amazing performance at Midland Square.

We had dinner at an Italian restaurant and it was yummy!

Yesterday I went see the ob-gyn to hear the result of a female hormone test I had undergone when I was in the high-temprature phase.

The doctor gave me a chart and it said my progesterone level was 3.17 ng/ml ... hmm. However, it does not mean a deficiency of progesterone because the hormone test was given at the very end of the high-temprature phase and in fact menstruation occured the very next day.

Yesterday I underwent another female hormone test to measure my estrogen level. Also, I underwent an ultrasound examination to check ovarian follicles (ranpou) and the doctor said they were still small.

I know that prospective mothers should eat food high in folic acid for health of their prospective baby. I asked the doctor for his opinion on taking supplements of folic acid to make up for what's missing in the diet and he said he would recommend them.

I'm supposed to see the doctor next Wednesday, which will be the fifteenth day of menstrual cycle, to see how ovarian follicies for timing method and hear my estroen level as the result of the famale hormone test.

Yesterday I went see a ob-gyn to keep him updated on how everything went.

Taking a look at my temperature chart, the doctor told me that it seemed like herbal medicines worked well.

He didn't suggest this, but I asked him to let me undergo a female hormone test since I recognized that I was in high-temperature phase, like 36.80. A nurse took a blood sample from artery by injection.

He told me to come back to hear the result of the hormone test three or four days after I finish period. I m supposed to undergo another female hormone test then.

I wonder why he has not suggested a female hormone test. He should've done that way before, right? Fertility doctors would have done that .... hmm. (/ω\) I think studying about fertility treatment by myself is very important and I'll continue to work on this.

I'm still pretty satisfied with the ob-gyn's treatment with informed consent and the clean-cut hospital so I'll see how things go for a while. I might think of going see a fertility doctor, I mean a fertility specialist, if things don't work well next year.

This morning I had a body temperature reduced to 36.28 so I think menstruation will occur soon.

Wondering when I'll conceive a baby-chan... I am 33 years and 7 months old now... ( ̄▽ ̄;)
