I read a Japanese novel "Taigan no Kanojyo" or "Woman on the Other Shore" by Mitsuyo Kakuta the other day. This novel won the Naoki Prize in 2005.

It portrays struggles and friendships of Japanese women and conveys the subtleties of human nature. I think I like this work since I sympathize with their way of thinking somewhat.

Now my husband is reading it. I was wondering if he liked it because it is written from women's perspectives, but he told me he found it interesting.

Some people say that autumn is the best season for reading and I'll enjoy reading more novels, next time something written in English.
