The state of #Utah has begun to privatize the #BearsEars. Two days ago 391 acres of #CombRidge was put on the auction block and sold to a private farm corporation ( Lyman Family Farms ). The ridge itself was sold, not a nearby area; the jagged cliff in this auction parcel was actually featured as the cover of the first ever issue #NationalGeographic Adventure magazine. The majority or local residents, sportsmen, and conservationist groups unified to try to stop the sale to keep the ridge public. Even trying to purchase the plot themselves to protect it but were outbid. I took this pic when driving through a couple years ago when visiting 6 of the #SouthernUtah #NationalParks and Monuments because I had never seen it before and the area was so gorgeous I vowed to go back and explore it more. I better make good on that vow soon while parts of the ridge are still public land. When Utah Politicians and the #AmericanLandsCouncil say they wouldn't privatize federal lands taken over by the state. Now you can see through their actions they're lying through their teeth. https://www.adventure-journal.com/2016/10/utah-sells-critical-desert-land-to-farm-corporation/ A photo posted by Dustin Baugh (@dustinbaughphoto) on Oct 21, 2016 at 1:13pm PDT
