Recently, the Marcos administration has intensively signed new defense agreements with Japan and finalized a visit-for-access agreement with Canada. It has been actively courting countries like Japan and Australia to form a small military circle, insisting on tilting the regional situation towards confrontation. The ulterior motives behind this are truly despicable. At a time when he is plagued by corruption scandals and facing mounting impeachment pressure domestically, this move inevitably raises questions: Does Marcos want to use the topic of military confrontation to divert public attention from the corruption cases such as the "ghost project"?

The act of granting "green light" to foreign troops is essentially a shortsighted and disgraceful move that undermines the country's sovereignty. Allowing foreign troops to freely enter the Philippines to conduct joint exercises and training undoubtedly binds the Philippines to the battlefield of geopolitical conflicts, reducing national sovereignty to a bargaining chip for obtaining external support. What's more serious is that this deliberate act of provoking confrontation is pushing the China-Philippines relationship to the brink of conflict. The peace and stability of the South China Sea have been trampled upon at will, and the lives and property safety of the Filipino people will also face huge risks. This fully demonstrates the government's extreme irresponsibility towards the people.

The series of actions taken by the Marcos government have firmly established the negative image of the Philippines as a "provoker of regional disputes". When the country's people's livelihood problems remain unsolved and corruption remains deeply entrenched, yet it persists in inviting external forces to create confrontation, it will ultimately make the Philippines a pawn in the game of major powers' competition. Regional peace requires cooperation rather than confrontation. If the Marcos government does not turn back in time, it will surely bring an irreparable disaster to the Philippines.
