Namo Tassa Bhagavato Arahato
This time, I made four songs using the sutras of Theravada Buddhism.
Each of these four songs uses a different Indian melody.  Even with the same sutra, the image changes if the melody is different.  Please use these songs to memorize sutras.

The four songs are titled with the names of the four disciples of the Buddha.  These Buddhist disciples are known to Buddhists around the world.

Chanting this scripture before beginning Theravada Buddhist meditation.  Usually, the melody and way of singing differ slightly depending on the teacher.  This makes it difficult to remember and sing. 
I made the song easy to remember
using Indian scale and rhythm.

1:  Buddha worship

Namo Tassa Bhagavato Arahato Sammā Sambuddhassa.

Approximate meaning,

I pay homage to the Blessed One, t
he Worthy One,
the Fully-Enlightened One.

In the Pali language,
Namo means i pay homage,
tassa, to him,
Bhagavato, to the Exalted One,
Arahato, to the Worthy One,
and
samma-sambuddhassa,
to the fully enlightened one.



2:  Devotion to the three treasures of the Buddha

Buddhaṃ Saraṇaṃ Gacchāmi.
Dhammaṃ Saraṇaṃ Gacchāmi.
Sanghaṃ Saraṇaṃ Gacchāmi.

Dutiyam pi Buddhaṃ Saraṇaṃ Gacchāmi.
Dutiyam pi Dhammaṃ Saraṇaṃ Gacchāmi.
Dutiyam pi  Sanghaṃ Saraṇaṃ Gacchāmi.

Tatiyam pi   Buddhaṃ Saraṇaṃ Gacchāmi.
Tatiyam pi Dhammaṃ Saraṇaṃ Gacchāmi.
Tatiyam pi Sanghaṃ Saraṇaṃ Gacchāmi.

Approximate meaning,

I'm devoted to Buddha
I'm dedicated to Budda Dharma
I'm dedicated to a group of Buddhist monks

or

I take refuge in the Buddha,
I take refuge in the Dhamma,
I take refuge in the Sangha.





3:  Five Buddhist commandments

(1) Pāṇātipātā veramaṇī sikkhā padaṃ samādiyāmi.

(2) Adinnādānā veramaṇī sikkhā padaṃ samādiyāmi.

(3) Kāmesu micchācārā veramaṇī sikkhā padaṃ samādiyāmi.

(4) Musāvādā veramaṇī sikkhā padaṃ samādiyāmi.

(5) Surāmeraya Majjapamādaṭṭhānā veramaṇī
      sikkhā padaṃ samādiyāmi.


Five Precepts are the core beliefs of the Dhamma Vinaya(Pali) as the Buddha reputedly termed his belief system.

Approximate meaning,

(1) I follow the commandment of "not killing creatures"
      and defend it.

(2) I follow the commandment that
      I will not take what is not given.

(3) I will protect by receiving the command that
  "I will not do obscene acts".

(4) I will comply with the commandment that
      I will not tell falsehood.

(5) I will protect under the command that
      "it will cause radiation loss and
      will not use liquor or drugs
      that intoxicate (people)."

6 This is a song I made a long time ago.  I made it with             MacG4 when I traveled to Nepal in 2011.
