Man Spends 365 Days Planning a Perfect Wedding Proposal
From the moment Dean Smith knew he wanted to marry Jennifer Kessel,
he started planning the perfect way to propose.
It took him more than a year to pull together his plan without his
girlfriend discovering what he was up to.
Last month, his hard work culminated in a touching, grab-your-hankie-
before-you-watch proposal.
On January 8, 2014, Smith, who is from Scottsdale, Arizona, started
videotaping himself holding up a whiteboard on which he’d written
the big question.
He held up the sign while reading, playing slots, in the shower,
brushing his teeth, driving, washing dishes, eating, and more,
showing how he thinks about her “literally every moment
of every day.”
After 365 days, Smith compiled each vignette and put it on a tablet.
"I just wanted to let you know how much I love you, how incredibly smart,
funny, caring and stunningly beautiful you are," Smith said in the video.
"To me, you are perfect."

An army of feral cats rules a remote island in southern Japan,
curling up in abandoned houses or strutting about in a fishing
village that is overrun with felines outnumbering humans six to one.
Originally introduced to the mile-long island of Aoshima to deal with
mice that plagued fishermen's boats, the cats stayed on - and multiplied.
More than 120 cats swarm the island with only a handful of humans for company,
mostly pensioners who didn't join the waves of migrants seeking work in the
cities after World War Two.
Aoshima, a 30-minute ferry ride off the coast of Ehime prefecture, had been
home to 900 people in 1945. The only sign of human activity now is the boatload
of day-trippers from the mainland, visiting what is locally known as Cat Island.
With no restaurants, cars, shops or kiosks selling snacks, Aoshima is no tourist
haven. But cat lovers are not complaining.
"There is a ton of cats here, then there was this sort of cat witch who came out
to feed the cats which was quite fun," said 27-year-old Makiko Yamasaki.
"So I'd want to come again."

When Yoko Sato lost her left leg in an accident, she fell into despair.
The stigma of amputation in a country that views disability as something
to be pitied added to her misery.
But then the Japanese office worker met prosthesis maker Fumio Usui,
whose artificial legs let Sato and women like her not only run, play
football and execute karate kicks, but also transform some of the
appendages into wearable works of art.
"My main aim is to change the image that disabled people are pitiful,"
Sato, whose leg was amputated seven years ago, told Reuters at a photo
shoot and fashion event on Valentine's Day.
"I want to show that prostheses can be cool and sometimes even cute,"
said the 33-year-old, posing in a sassy red mini-dress that showed off
a prosthetic leg painted with cherry blossoms and gilded Japanese fans.
"It would be great if people felt that prostheses could be fashion items,"
Sato added.
There are an estimated 80,000 people in Japan using prosthetic limbs.
Some 7,000, including Paralympians, have been fitted for prostheses by
Usui and his workshop, part of an organisation set up in 1932 to help
injured railroad workers.
