I went to Tokyo
on business last week.
I stayed at a hotel in Kawasaki.
This was my third time staying in Kawasaki.
I stayed at three different hotels.
The first two hotels
were in Kanagawa prefecture,
but TV Kanagawa (TVK) could not be seen.
At the hotel
where I stayed last week,
I entered a room
and checked the TV first.
I couldn't watch TVK,
and I checked the TV persistently,
I couldn't see NHK either.
When I told the hotel stuff,
the TV seemed to be out of order
and the cause was unknown.
The hotel staff upgraded my room
and I was able to watch TVK programs
for the first time in 5 months.
I will try to make it a regular accommodation
from next time.
The other day,
Andrew Fletcher of Depeche Mode,
a band from Basildon,
Essex in the southeastern part of England,
passed away suddenly
because of arterial dissection.
Depeche Mode is one of
my favorite bands.
I especially like
"People Are People"
and "Enjoy The Silence".
"People Are People"
was played in heavy rotation
on local TV music program in Japan
in 1984 and became a hit.
The song is
"People are people, so why should it be
You and I should get along so awfully?"
a song about peace and the eradication of racism.
Recently I saw a program
that dealt with the
"Self-domestication Theory".
In the proces of domesticationing pigs
from wild boars
and losing their wild instinets,
they lost their fitghting spirit
symbolized by there fangs.
The theory is that humans were also domesticated
in the same way,
resultinng in the acquistion
of cooperativeness (sociallity)
and decline in aggression.
The theory also explained the instinctive
aspects that
"people from groups with similar people,
so they attack different groups".
Some or other presidents are attacking
people of the same ethnicity,
but why are they attacking
while they are of the same ethnicity?
