Diversity（多様性）にあります。元々移民の国ですから、それぞれのバックグラウンドを理解し合い、尊重する。もちろん先住民であるアボリジニーへの敬意も忘れません。毎年3月23日には”ハーモニーデー”が開催され、多くの家族連れで賑わうそうです。
Sutherland Shire Council and a range of community organisations join together to host the Sutherland Shire Harmony Day celebration .
Local organisations including Kurranulla Aboriginal Corporation, Gymea Community Aid and Information Service, Enough is Enough Anti Violence Movement, the Sutherland Shire Amnesty International group and the Inner South-West Community Development Organisation come together to create the event celebrating the Shire’s cultural diversity.
Sutherland Shire Mayor, Carmelo Pesce said the Harmony Day celebration is intended to showcase the Shire’s strong spirit of inclusiveness and sense of belonging for everyone.
“The theme for Harmony Day is that our diversity is our strength". So this is a great opportunity to celebrate their diversity, recognize that it is one of their greatest assets and makes them a stronger community,
“We welcome everyone to come along for a family-friendly celebration, have fun and appreciate that it is our differences that make our community a great place to live. There are stalls from local community organisations and a diverse range of cultural entertainment,” said the Mayor Pesce.
