Stationary（Things to Learn）
こちらはそれほど寒くない気候なので、年末という感じは全くしません。
さて今回は生徒たちの文房具について投稿します。
Because of the climate (not so cold) here, I don’t feel it is close to the end of this year.
I am going to post about a student's stationary in this article.
生徒たちはおそらく学習道具を教室に置いて行っていると思います。何も持たずに学校に来る姿が良く見られます。
Most students probably leave their things for learning in their school. We can often see students with no bags or other things.
ですので、この写真のように机の中はいつも物でいっぱいです。
So, there are always a lot of things in their desks like in this picture.
まず生徒たちのノートです。
I am going to show you student’s notebooks at first.
左上からメッシ、クリスティアーノ・ロナウド、メッシ、自由の女神です。昨年のワールドカップ決勝でみんながアルゼンチンを応援していた理由がここにある気がします。ちなみに生徒たちは自由の女神は知りませんでした。「これは何？」と聞かれたので、「アメリカのニューヨークにある自由の象徴の像だよ」とだけ伝えました。
From upper left, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi and Statue of Liberty. I realize why everyone supported Argentina in the final of the World Cup last year. My students didn’t know the Statue of Liberty. My students asked me what this is. And I answered that it is a statue of liberty and the symbol of liberty in New York, US.
このように、カバーを付けている生徒もけっこういます。右の青いノートもよく生徒が使っているものです。
Some students put a cover on their notebooks like this. Many students usually use the blue notebooks in the right of this photograph.
この青いノートにはジャンボ(Jambo)と書かれています。スワヒリ語の挨拶として有名ですが、こちらではちょこちょこスワヒリ語も使われます。サワサワ”Sawa Sawa”（日本語でOK!OK!）とかよく言っています。
This blue notebook prints the word “Jambo”. It is a famous greeting of Swahili. And we use some Swahili here (in Rwanda). I usually say “Sawa Sawa “(it means OK! OK!).
生徒が使うこのノートは4000～5000ルワンダフラン（日本円で500～600円）もします。ルワンダ人向けのレストランで一食2000フランくらいなので相当高いと思います。日本人の我々から見ても高いので、どうにか安くならないですかね。
This notebook which students use costs 4000-5000 RWF ($4-5). Because we can eat lunch or dinner with 2000 RWF in restaurants for Rwandans, it is too expensive. Even we Japanese think it is very expensive. So, I hope the notebooks will be cheap.
これは高3のノートで、複素数を学んでいますね。生徒たちは基本的に鉛筆やシャープペンシルではなく、ボールペンを数本持っていて（持ってきて）ボールペンのみを使います。全教科を同じノートに書いていると思います。
This is a notebook of senior-six student. They learn complex numbers. Students basically have some pens and use a blue or black pen not using a mechanical pencil or a pencil. They use one notebook with all subjects.
キガリのコンベンションセンターの筆箱です。カッコいいですね。お土産に欲しいです。
It is the Convention Centre in Kigali. It is so cool and I want to buy it as souvenirs.
なんと分度器や三角定規、コンパス、コンパス用の鉛筆まで入っています。よく写真を見るとMathematical Set（数学用のセット）と書いてありました。実は筆箱ではなく数学セットだったようです。
There are protractor, triangular ruler, compass and pencil for compass. I looked at the two photos above carefully. I found the word “Mathematical Set” on the pencase. So, I got that it is a Mathematical Set and not a pen case.
多くの生徒は定規も持っていないため、ペンを定規のように使います。
Many students don’t have a ruler and they use a pen like a ruler.
問題なくきれいな線が引けています。
They can draw a beautiful line without any problems.
環境は違えど、学習をすること自体は何も変わらないかもしれないですね。
Though there are some environmental differences, it might be the same to learn something.
