11月も終わりです。
ルワンダは只今、雨季真っ最中です。
It’s the end of November. Now it's a completely rainy period in Rwanda.
①変な天気/Strange Weather
朝、学校に行こうとすると次の写真のようなことがあります。それから標高が高い(1770m)ので、けっこう寒く感じます。
When I go to school, sometimes my town is like the next picture. Because of the high altitude(1770m), I feel very cool.
霧がすごいですね。このような霧も雨季の特徴なのだと思います。
The fog is too strong. The fog is characteristic during rainy periods.
学校も霧の中です。おもしろいのは、朝はこんな天気なのに、午後には晴天になったりすることです。変な天気ですね。
My school is in the fog. In spite of bad weather like this in the morning, it will be fine in the afternoon. It is very interesting and strange weather.
②変な鳥/Strange Birds
8,9月くらいから町に、次の写真の鳥がたくさんやってきていました。
A lot of birds in the next picture have come to my town since August or September.
木の上にたくさんの鳥がいますね。灰色の鳥は雛鳥です。
There are a lot of birds on the tree. Grey one is a baby bird.
この鳥はアフリカトキコウという鳥です。体長は1.0mほどで、けっこう大きいです。
This bird is called Yellow-billed Stork. It stands about 1.0m and I felt it was very big.
アフリカトキコウはサハラ以南のアフリカ（サハラ砂漠より南のアフリカ）に生息する鳥のようです。様々な動物の分布に注目すると、やはりサハラ以南（サブサハラアフリカとその他の地域では）は世界が違います。
Yellow-billed Stork is widely spread in sub-Saharan Africa. Considering a range of animals, there are big environmental differences between Sub-Saharan Africa and other regions.
確かに名前の通り、トキに少し似ていますね。繫殖期に羽がピンク色になるようです。写真の個体も羽がピンクですね。
Like their name, they are similar to Ibis. Their wings will be pink during breeding. Some birds in photos have pink colored wings.
まだ換毛前の子どもでしょう。それにしてもこんな大きな鳥が街中をウロウロしているなんて、日本では考えられません。
This bird is before shedding to adult feathers. We can’t see such a big bird walking in the street in Japan.
先週、同じ場所を見たら数が減っていました。寒くなってきたので、どこかへ渡っていったのかもしれません。雛を育てる期間は2か月らしいので、その期間が終わり、巣立ったのかもしれませんね。
When I saw these birds in the same place last week, the number of them decreased. Because it is cooler now, they may fly away to anywhere. Breeding period is about 2 months. So, they might have finished breeding their babies.
鳥は電柱や電灯の上が好きですね。そういえば道東でみたタカも電柱にいました。
Birds like the tops of poles or lights. I saw some hawks in east Hokkaido and they are on the top of a pole.
③変な果実/Strange Fruits
月曜日に自宅近くをウロウロしていると、また変な物を発見してしまいました。
When I walk around my house on Monday. I found strange things again.
どれだか分かりますか？
Do you see anything strange?
次の写真の果実を見つけました。
I found fruits in the next pic.
これはパラミツという植物の果実のようです。英語ではジャックフルーツ(Jackfruit)。
This fruit is called Jackfruit.
食用可能で、加熱するとお肉のようになるそうです。チップス（フライ）などにして食べるらしいです。バナナチップスも美味しいので、美味しいかもしれませんね。
We can eat Jackfruits and when we boil them, they will be like meat. We can eat fried Jack fruits. And they might taste good because green banana chips are also delicious.
パラミツは世界最大の果実と言われているそうです。食べてみたいですね。
It is said to be the largest fruit in the world. I would like to eat them.
