I finished reading The Hunger Games trilogy for the second time over the weekend, and I have been wanting to write something since I finished rereading the second book, but it just hasn't happened. I think they should have a 4th book to kind of explain what the point of it is and also a rewritten 3rd book so it can make more sense of what was going on. In his review of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Stephen King calls the book “a violent, jarring speed-rap of a novel” and points out that “The winner gets a life of ease; the losers get death. Could I keep myself alive like Katniss? My family has been bugging me to read at least the first book, and as I may end up seeing the movie at some point, I decided to give it a try. This, therefore, is my review of THE HUNGER GAMES (the book, not the movie). Part of the reason it hasn't happened is because, while I did know Indeed--that is another point of the novels: that overwrought language is overrated (and maybe there will be more on that later, too). Two men pine over the lead Katniss. In The Hunger Games novel, author Suzanne Collins reveals her dystopian society solely through the point of view of a single character. Because it's a freaking post-apocalyptic novel. That's the brilliance of this book. Before I get the review itself, I'd like to point out the obvious context here. Sure it's got elements similar to The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a dystopian novel. Ditto Divergent, The Maze Runner, 1984, Battle Royale… Your point? In the future, there is no United States. It gives you valuable information in a way that's relatable. "It was about finding the bandwidth between two places," says Jacobson. The Love Story: The love triangle in Hunger Games is possibly one of the larger selling points of the series.
