"HAKOBUNE" :Sakurai Ikuya = "Hakobune" is the japanese word for ark and symbolizes here the journey from destruction to regeneration. The solo dance piece, created and performed by Ikuya Sakurai, choreographer and dancer from Tokyo, consists of an incessant movement of the dancer's body during a whole hour. It realistically portrays images of life, death and rebirth through the energy which is ceaselessly released with the intense concentration and the transformation of the dancer's body.The piece was created from Ikuya Sakurai's personal experience of the Tohoku earthquake and the explosion of the nuclear plant in japan 2011. Through this performance he expresses the mourning for the dead and the encouragement for the surviver's future. Hokobune is about destruction, loss, radioactivity which keeps on falling, as well as the human figure who tries to find the light from out of the darkness. Ikuya Sakurai's dance piece prefigures a modern apocalypse and, at the same time, a beautiful meditative performing art which entrusts infinite sympathy for the human body and life.
CALLEJON : Yuko Kominami (20-30min.)=Calléjon means alley in spanish. The dancer moves in the alley, forth and back, getting lost, finding back and leaded to a dead end. Is she a rat in a bag or a flower blooming out of season? In the kaleidoscope of light, shadow and darkness, the questions about destiny become irrelevant. We all encounter death (and birth) somewhere, just here? We can laugh or cry, resign or struggle, rage or love. We keep on going through the alley.

Sakurai Ikuya
Sakurai Ikuya is a dancer/choreographer based in Tokyo. He was born in Nara, ancient city in Japan in 1964. He grew up in a traditional climate and practiced gymnastics since the early age. At the age of 18, He became a pupil of one of the pioneers of butoh, Akira Kasai in Tokyo. Along learning butoh he worked as his assistant until 1995. Pararell to the dance practice, He studied film and drama directing at Nihon University college of art and its graduate school. His film was awarded with the special recognition award by the jury at Munic International film festival. From 1993, he started to launch a career as a dancer/choreographer of contemporary dance and butoh. In 1997, he has created a company with artist Emiko Sakurai a company “Sakurai Ikuya/CROSS-SECTION”. Until this date, he has created and performed more than 40 dance pieces, and also has been teaching professionals and amateurs, through exploring the new possibilities of butoh. 2000: Participated in "Theater X(cai)" International Dance Festival Tokyo. 2001and 2006-2009: participated continuously in "Dance Hakushu" Festival directed by Tanaka Min. 2002: Choreographed for NHK educational TV Program. 2006: Invited from 10th “a sul” Contemporary Dance Festival in Portugal. 2012: participate in Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale Niigata Japan. ※早春3月のplanB公演が招聘となり、大劇場版に育てる作業となります。ダンスの内容や美術は大きく変化して、タイトルも『方舟』という名になりました。作品のことなど、くわしい記事もこれから記載してゆきますので、よろしくお願いします。まずは上記、ぜひお知り置き下さいませ！
※プロデュースのオープデルシュメルツ劇場は現代アートセンターやメディアセンターと連携した新しいスタイルの劇場で、世界遺産でもあるルクセンブルグ旧市街から３０分のロケーション。（パリからもTGVで２時間ほどです。）照明のブライスさん、音のトマスさん、ともに初の共同作業を快諾してくだって、目下、交信中です。そして、ポルトガル公演につづき、小南ゆう子さんが公演作業を共にしてくれています。さらに今回は『カリヨン』という名の踊りを創作して同時上演しくれます。ゆう子さんはダンスクラスOGで名実共に仲間です。ずっと一緒に舞台を踏みたいと思ってきたのが、いよいよ実現します。
※上演地のルクセンブルグは紅葉が美しい国とききます。秋の深まってゆく季節感のなかで、いかなる交感と出会いが生まれるか、楽しみでなりません。
