いよいよ明日、FCE。
Use of English を中心に、対策を進める。
would rather とprefer の書き換えとか、正直知らなかった。
ing とったり不定詞とったり原形だったり、難解。
I prefer an apple to a orange.←これは基本。俺オレンジより林檎が好きだぜって。
で、I prefer driving to travelling by train.←これも基本。ここまでは分かる。
でも、I prefer to drive rather than travel by train.←とrather than を後ろにとると、不定詞OKになり、
I would prefer to drive ←と、I would prefer になると、これも不定詞しかとらない。
そして、I would rather driveと、would rather は原形以外はNG。
よく飛行機で、「Would you prefer tea or coffee?」と聞かれるが、
would preferはただのpreferと違って、特定の状況（Specific situation）でしか使わないらしい。一般的な好み（general）では使えない。
なるほど、機内は充分Specificだ。
で書き換え。
I would rather stay at home tonight than go to the cinema.
これをprefer使って書き換えると、
I would prefer to stay at home rather than go to the cinema.
になる訳だ。
これって、単に知ってる知らないかだな。問われてるのは。
考えて分かるものでもなさそう。
はあ、文法は得意なはずだったが、やはりまだまだ知らない事が多い。
