This is similar to how John was hidden behind Judas in The Last Supper. To be precise, this "Virgin of the Rocks" was painted before the "Last Supper", so Leonardo da Vinci may have tried the idea in this painting. Maybe you're hiding someone behind this standing woman. Who is hiding? I have seen this red outfit somewhere. Isn't this the Archangel Gabriel of the "Annunciation"?

I was happy that this solved the mystery. I was stupid. I have made an easy consideration. Researchers are debating what Mary's hand, "Virgin of the Rocks," rejects. The answer is immediately apparent when you look at my composited image. I was ecstatic. Maria had rejected the "white lily" of Archangel Gabriel. So I thought I had solved the mystery and I was complimenting myself. I was feeling a little arrogant.
