Right before leaving for Tokyo,
my Mom took me to C's Garden for supper
at Nakayamadera.
We started speaking in English
after we had crème au gratin and
pizza margherita.
I was so surprised and impressed to
see my Mom improved her English
so drastically.
She and my sister take lessons from my uncle
with the unique method I have never seen.
Memorizing 500 sentences and
speak them at high speed
almost without breathing.
I totally agree with the method
which forces one to learn the language
in the fastest pace or the native pace, however,
I thought they should listen to
the English native speaking those sentences
and should memorize with
the proper pronunciation and intonation.
My Mom surprised me in two ways.
First, she understood every single term
I said in the native speed.
Second, she responses without hesitation,
such as "Mmm" or "Well...."
I was glad to see her being pleased about
my heartfelt compliment.
