Oshika is very inaccessible.
On this trip, a member who had visited all sorts of temporary housing complexes in Miyagi joined us from Sendai. Even this member said “I’ve never been to somewhere so inaccessible.”
Even JILCA, active in the 3 prefectures of Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima, feels the same way.

Where we conducted our activities, there wasn’t even a supermarket nearby.
The residents told us “It’s a 7000 yen one-way taxi ride to get to the supermarket.”

When we go to such a place with a large group, we have a hard time with meals.
There are a few eating establishments, but none that can accommodate all of the members at once.
There are some small convenience stores, but when we buy stuff for dinner and breakfast at the stores, we end up cleaning out their inventory as if we were hoarders.

On the principle of “Contributing to the local economy” JILCA encourages our members to sample the local fares on our tours, but this time, due to large impact we would have on the local food supply, we brought ingredients to make curry rice.
Our lodging also contributed to this gorgeous spread. Members were very satisfied.

We heard a lunch box business will be starting in Oshika soon.
Hopefully we’ll be getting our lunches from there on the next tour.

We can have catered lunch boxes on Saturday,
Buy ingredients in local stores to make dinner,
Then spread out on Sunday to sample the local eateries for lunch.

While contributing fairly to the local economy, we will also take care of the member’s culinary interests.

“Work hard. Then have fun”

With this motto, JILCA will continue our activities.
