You’ve often used the word “ideal” since the last some years of your competitive career.
It sounds like a declaration of determination that you would never give up on that. 「競技者時代の後半に『理想』を言い始めたのは、結局その、自分が…。ぶっちゃけた話をすると…自分がこういう演技がしたいと思っていて、でも、それがやっぱり評価につながらないみたいなものがずっとあったので。その時にもう、自分の理想を追いかけるっていうことにシフトしたんですよね」
“Why I started talking about “ideal” at the last years of my competitive career is because, well, myself, , , to be honest, I wanted to perform a certain way, but it was not evaluated as I thought.
Facing such, I have decided to shift to chasing my ideals."
―オータムクラシックあたりか。 You mean it was around Autumn Classic?
Probably the biggest impact happened in Autumn, Autumn 2019.
At that time, I had no choice but to reconsider that the most important thing for me was to do what I wanted to do, and not to warry about score, but to perform in a way I was aiming for.
Doing so, I felt it makes my fans happy, somewhat it satisfied me and my fans. Since then, I’m still on the same direction, and as a professional skater, I should pursue it even more.
Since I’ve been skating for my fans, my ideals are getting higher and higher, and somewhat I have been pursuing my ideals.
2019－20シーズンは本当に辛かったよね
オータムの採点は もう犯罪の域だったし
そして ファンもあの頃から 結弦君には得点ではなく
自分の求めるスケートをって気持ちなっていたし
とは言え 本当に辛い暗黒の時代だった
そして ファンよりも誰よりも
結弦君自身の辛さは計り知れないものだったはずだよ
こうして 今 結弦君の当時を振り返る言葉を読むと
その頃 既に結弦君があの世界に見切りをつけていたってことかな？
Yeah, it was the hell, 2019-20 season was.
And the scoring of Autumn Classic was almost criminal.
And not only Yuzu but we fans too,
we started ignoring scores, but
just wanting Yuzu to skater whatever he wanted to.
However, more than anyone, even we fans,
Yuzu's pain must have been immeasurable.
Recalling those day and now reading
Yuzu's comments, yeah
Yuzu might already left that dark society.

And oh, it was because of Takagi-san,

結弦君はちゃんと記録を残している

However, being in such a dark society,
Yuzu has achieved the records.
Getting the golds of Skate Canada and 4CC and
the first (and probably the last) for men's single,
―「ダニーボーイ」は以前にも増して寄り添う感じ、優しさが伝わってくる。
この２年で表現の幅が増えたことによるのか、内側からの変化なのか。
「もともと存在している感情を、より新しい手法で伝えられるようになったのかなっていう感じはしなくはないです。
それこそ『ノッテ』（ノッテステラータ）を滑る時もそうだし、『春』（春よ、来い）を滑る時もそうなんですけど、慈愛みたいなものとか、祈りみたいなものを、どういう曲調で、どういうふうな手の振り、手の使い方、上半身の使い方であったりで表現するかっていうことが、今までどちらかというと、クラシックであったり、ポップスであったり、インストにしたとしても、『春』はもともとはポップスの曲ですし。
今回、ジャズの曲調でっていうのが、すごく自分の中にも今までなかった引き出しだったし、それをやっと、ちょっとこなせるようになったかなっていうのが、一番、印象として違うんじゃないですかね。
もちろん、年齢を重ねて、だんだん大人になってきているっていうのもあるとは思うんですけど、それを表現するための体の使い方であったりとか、思考回路みたいなものも、また、ちょっと追いついてきたのかなという感じはします」 -It seems your "Danny Boy"has a more empathetic and gentle mood than another past programmes of yours.
Is it because you developed expression abiliti or becasue you had a inner change? "I have a feeling that now I can express emotions which were already in my mind in newer ways.
For example, previously, like when I perform "Notte" (Notte Stellata) or "Haru" (Haruyo Koi), to express compassion or prayer, before I tended to use cirtain types of music like classic or pop music, or cirtain ways to move hands and arms or upper body.
"Haru" is an instrumental music however it is a pop music.
But this time (Danny), it's a jazz, and something new for me, which I hadn't tried before, so somewhat it may give a different impression since finally I can work with such new types of music.
Of course, it's because I gain them with age, however, I feel I learnt by myself how to use my body to express such emotions and what to think about them.
競技者だったころと比べたら
本当に色んな出会いがあったし
更に色んな学びを・・・ダンスもそうだしね
結弦君頑張ってきたものね
色んな経験も「新しい手法」の糧としてきたんだろうな
あの曲との出会いを作ってくれた
お源さんの番組出演を承諾したのって
お源さん大好きだからって言うだけじゃなく
結弦君 きっとお源さんから色んな学びを得たかったのかも
そして・・・・
Now as a professional skater,
Yuzu had more opportunity to meet many people and
to have variety of experiences as well as
chances to learn, including dancing.
Yuzu has been working so hard, and
probably Yuzu makes those various experiences
to develop "new ways."
And maybe, when Yuzu accept the offer from Ogen,
it was of course Yuzu is a fan of Ogen but
probably Yuzu wanted learn lots from Ogen,
and, , ,
Danny Boyとの出会いをもらったんだよね！
And Ogen let Yuzu encounter "Danny Boy".
「あの子は本当にもう急展開というか、運命の出会いを果たしたなっていう感じでした」
"It was like a sudden development or a fateful encounter."
運命の出会いだったのかもしれない
でも なんか結弦君自身が引き寄せた出会いにも思える
TV出演にしても
バラエティとかじゃなくって
やっぱりスケーターとしてとか
被災地支援につながる番組とか
音楽関係の番組とかね
出演した番組って
「羽生結弦」らしさがちゃんとそこにあるんだよね
そして ただ出演するんじゃなく
そこからまた色んな学びを得ているんだろうな
運命によってお源さんの番組を
結弦君が選び 運命の出会いを引き寄せたんだと思うんだわ
Maybe, it was a fateful encounter but, , ,
at the same time it seems like
it was brought about by Yuzu himself.
When Yuzu appears on TV,
never be in variety shows, but
interview programmes,
programmes related to disaster relief or
music programmes.
There's the essence of "Hanyu Yuuru".
And not only appearing but
seems Yuzu gains learnings through there too.
By fate, Yuzu made a chice to be in "Ogen-san" and
