Heading to the Super Bowl
CALGARY Sports Super Bowl Sunday is a day like no other in the sports world as millions of casual and hardcore fans from around the globe tune in. It is also the biggest day on the sports betting calendar as billions are wagered on this spectacular single day event. Canadians are included in that group as they flock to Canada betting sites in droves to get a piece of the action. This article features three of the greatest Super Bowl games in NFL history.
Super Bowl X was played in front of over 80,000 fans at the Miami Orange Bowl on January 18, 1976. A tight first half saw the Cowboys head to the locker room up 10 3 thanks to a Roger Staubach to Drew Pearson 29 yard TD pass and a Toni Fritsch 36 yard field goal. In between those scores Steelers QB Terry Bradshaw hit TE Randy Grossman with a 7 yard TD pass. After a scoreless third quarter Pittsburgh registered a safety, PK Roy Gerela hit two field goals, and Lynn Swan caught 64 yard TD pass to put the Steelers up 21 10 late in the fourth quarter. The Cowboys cut the score to 21 17 but the Steelers shut the door with an interception in the end zone as time expired to secure their second consecutive Super Bowl Championship.
Chicago Bears vs. New England Patriots: Super Bowl DeAngelo Hall Authentic Jersey XX
Played on January 26, 1986, in front of nearly 74,000 fans at the Louisiana Superdome, in New Orleans, Super Bowl XX doesn't make our list for being a close game but rather because of the sheer dominance of the Chicago Bears. Following a Bears fumble during their first possession, New England PK Tony Franklin hit a 36 yard field goal to give the "Cinderella" Patriots some early but false hope as it was all down hill from there for the Pats. The Bears took a 23 3 halftime lead as their defense held New England to Brian Orakpo Authentic Jersey an astounding negative 19 yards of total offense in the first half. Chicago would score a record 21 points in the third quarter, including a much anticipated 1 yard TD plunge by DL William "The Refrigerator" Perry. With the Gulf War raging as a backdrop, New York and Buffalo met in Super Bowl XXV on January 27, 1991, at Tampa Stadium in Florida. Then New York defensive coordinator Bill Belichick came up with a remarkable game plan as the Giants defense stifled the Bills high powered "K Gun offense" that had scored 44 and 51 points in their first two playoff games. Meanwhile, the NY offense sustained drives that allowed the G Men to win the time of possession battle by a 40:33 to 19:27 count. Super Bowl XXV also featured one of the most memorable field goal attempts in NFL history as Buffalo PK Scott Norwood missed a 47 yarder "wide right" on the final play of the game. The Giants 20 19 victory is still the only Super Bowl to be decided by a single point.
