Hello there, I happened to read your blog for the first time today :)
I guess it's not nice to point out mistakes but it's kinda pretty sticking out and you may wanna fix it if possible..
Happening (used to mean an accident) is pronounced and written in katakana as ハプニング, without the hyphen.
My husband (who's from Canada) makes lots of katakana-related mistakes as well.
I work as a freelance translator (Japanese into English) but make lots of "a" and "the" screw-ups too. I've kinda given up trying to remember the rules....
Anyhow I've gotta get back to work!

ネイティブスピーカーから新しい英語の言い回しや単語を習っても、別のネイティブスピーカーにはその英語を使わないと言われることがあります。
英語も地域や世代によって使う英語に違いはあると思いますが、ネイティブ同士でも、使う英語が違うということは結構起きるのでしょうか。
For example, I heared that the idiom "piece of cake" is not common these days. I asked some native speakers if it is true. Some of them said "yes", but the others said "No, I use it in daily conversation."
One more example is...
I learned the new word "cakewalk" which describes something that is easy to do from podcast hosted by native speakers. But some native speakers answered that they even don't know the word.
What's happening out there?
