MDA1600: Proposal for a piece of sonic art
For the module MDA1600 for the B.A Sonic Arts course at Middlesex, one assignment was to write/create a proposal for a piece of Sonic Art.
For this assignment I compiled a folder of a proposal I had created along with all relevant written materials and health and safety/licensing documents.
My proposal was for a large installation that takes place in the basement of Shoreditch Town Hall that demonstrates the ability of hearing and listening that we all have, as well as allowing the audience to experience various sites of London in a new way.
If you would like to know more, you can download the Proposal that I handed in, in PDF format below.
I recieved a first reward for this project.

"Metropolis" Sound Design
I am a fan of silent movies, including the brilliant science fictionfilm "Metropolis" by Frtiz Lang. For the module "Media Arts Practice"on the Sonic Arts course at Middlesex, I was given a choice of videosand text to create soundtracks for. Among the choices were three clipsfrom "Metropolis".
Below are the video clips with thesoundtracks that I created for them. I took a different approach toeach one, my favourite being the scene where the robot awakes as Icreated all the sounds for that scene on a Doepfer A-100 analog modularsynthesiser.

Seminar Paper - The Sampling Instrument
On December 20th 2007, I gave a presentation at Middlesex University
for a seminar as part of the Sonic Arts BA degree course. I talked
about the evolution of the sampling instrument, from tape replay
keyboards to digital hardware samplers, to newer methods of sampling
like computer software. I talked about how these different technologies
have grown and "evolved", and also why some of them have become
"exstinct". I talked a lot about the Mellotron (pictured below) in
particular, not only because of its importance in the timeline but also
because of its recent comeback.
Below
are PDF files of both the paper which I referred from during the
presentation and a powerpoint which was supposed to accompany me during
my talk.
