アスコットでの失敗から６週間後のトランシルバニア大使館の舞踏会で、イライザはヒギンズやピカリングの心配をよそに見事に自分の役割を演じ切ります。
途中、ヒギンズの一番弟子と称し、32ヶ国語を自在に操るというハンガリーの言語学者カーパシーが現れ、イライザの生い立ちをしつこく詮索します。そして、彼が下した結論は「彼女はハンガリーの王女に違いない！ 生粋のイギリス人があんな完璧な英語を話せる筈がない」というものでした。
さらに、イライザはトランシルバニア皇太子からダンスの相手に指名されるという快挙をやってのけ、下町のただの花売り娘から一流のレディへと見事に変身したのでした。
大使館の舞踏会
ヒギンズの実験は見事に成功。帰宅後、ピカリングと互いの健闘を称え合います。
「でかしたぞ！（You Did It!)」
ところが、イライザに対しては一言のねぎらいもありません！
一途にヒギンズを想っていたイライザの心に変化が生まれます。
「自分はただのモルモットだった。成長した自分をこの人は一人前の女性とは見てくれていない！」
一人きりになったイライザはヒギンズの実験室で泣き崩れます。
そして、自分はもうこの家では用のない人間だと感じたイライザは、一人そっとヒギンズの家を出ていきます。

乗り込んですぐに楽勝だと分かったよ。
後は死ぬほど退屈さ。
Pickering:

あの「オー！」とか「アー！」とか言う歓声を聞いただろう。
みんなどなたがお越しになったのかと思ったのさ。
Henry:
You'd think they'd never seen a lady before.
まったく、レディをこれまで見たことがないのかねえ？
Pickering:

Asked to meet her,
And gave his arm to lead her to the floor...! I said to him:

それでトランシルヴァニア皇太子殿下が
イライザを呼び、腕を取ってフロアに行かれたとき、
僕は思わず言ったね、「これは、ヒギンズがしでかしました、ヒギンズが！」
みんなはイライザが美しく、えらく気品のある娘と思ったが、
まさか君の作品だとは思いもしなかったのさ。
Henry:
Thank Heavens for Zoltan Karparthy.
If it weren't for him I would have died of boredom.
ゾルタン・カパーシーに感謝だね。
奴がいなけりゃ、死ぬほど退屈していたろうな。
Mrs. Pearce:
Karparthy? That dreadful Hungarian?

その通り、例によってウロチョロしてたってわけだ。
語学を教えるよりはゆすりの種にするごろつきだ。
「このドゥー・リトルとは何者か、正体を暴いてやろう」
と不退転の決意を固めたのさ。
周りを見ると、いつも奴がいた。
ブダペストから来た、もじゃもじゃ頭の猟犬がね！
片時だって離れやしない。まったく不躾な下司やろうさ。
ついに私は決心したね、
「こいつにイライザの相手をさせるのも悪くはない」って。
そこで、私は引き下がって、奴にイライザと踊らせたのさ。
あらん限りの愛想を振りまいて
奴はフロアの上をのたうち回ってた。
あらん限りの手練手管で
イライザの仮面を引っ剥がそうってわけだ。
そして、いよいよダンスが終わると
どや顔よろしく満面の笑（えみ）さ
そしてニヤニヤ、声上ずらせて、御注進
「あの娘の素性は偽物でございます」
Mrs. Pearce:
No!
まさか！
Henry:
Ja wohl! Her English is too good, he said,
Which clearly indicates that she is foreign.
Whereas others are instructed in their native language
English people aren't.
And although she may have studied with an expert
