さて、ヒギンズはイライザの言動のおかげで大恥をかき、母親からも「生きた人間を使って、お人形遊びをしている！」と罵倒されます。
しかし、ヒギンズはめげることなく、６週間後の大使館の舞踏会をめざして雪辱を誓います。
ところで、アスコットのボックス席でイライザと同席した貧乏貴族の息子、フレディ・アインスフォード＝ヒルは、イライザに一目惚れ。ヒギンズの家まで彼女を追いかけていきます。
