今日のカーペンターズは、2枚目のアルバム≪Close To You≫から
「恋よさようなら I'll Never Fall In Love Again」
この曲はバート・バカラック作曲、ハル・デイビッド作詞でカーペン
ターズにとってはカヴァー曲になります。
もともとはミュージカル「プロミスィーズ」のために書かれた曲です
が、1969年にボビー・ジェントリーがヒットさせ次にディオンヌ・ワ
ーウィックが歌い世界的にヒットしました。ワーウィックはこの曲で
1971年度のグラミー賞を受賞しています。
因みにワーウィックは今年亡くなったホイットニー・ヒューストンの
従姉だそうです。
今日は、カレンの歌とワーウィックの歌の2本をアップしましたので、
聴き比べてみてください。
この曲の歌詞はなかなか面白いですね。
さんざん恋に悪態をつきながらも
「だから私は、とにかく明日までは恋なんかしないの
二度と恋なんかするもんですか」
と締めくくる。
「なんだ！ 明日までの話かい」って突っ込みを入れたくなります（笑）
