Overview
This bulletin announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life for Catalyst 6500 10- & 100-Mbps Ethernet fiber-based line cards. Last orders were accepted June 15, 2006, with support continuing until June 15, 2011 under active service contracts. Customers should migrate to higher-density 100BASE-X interface modules and SFP optics for improved density and flexibility.

Product Migration Options
Customers were encouraged to migrate to Catalyst 6500 48-port 100BASE-X interface modules combined with flexible SFP optics for higher port densities, better cost per port, and support for modular optics choices. This helps future-proof deployments and supports evolving access and metro connectivity needs.
