Overview

NX‑OS Release 10.3(4a)M provides supported software images, enhancements for selected platforms, known software conditions, and supported hardware for the Nexus 9000 Series.

Software Enhancements

This maintenance release does not introduce new software features, but includes enhancements for existing capabilities:

Platform and Scale Enhancements

  • Enhanced ISSU support for N9K‑C9408 for modular chassis.

  • vPC Scale Improvements:

    • Up to 98 on 9300‑FX2 platforms.

    • Up to 128 on 9300‑GX2 platforms.

Syslog Protocol Compliance

  • logging rfc‑strict 5424 full command improves structured data and MSGID fields compliance.

Supported Software Images

  • nxos64-cs.10.3.4a.M.bin — supported on fixed and modular systems.

  • nxos64-msll.10.3.4a.M.bin — supported on modular systems with R‑series and R2‑series line cards.

32‑bit images are no longer supported.

Unsupported Features on N9K‑C92348GC

The following features are not supported:

  • VXLAN

  • Software/hardware telemetry

  • NetFlow/Analytics

  • iCAM

  • PTP

  • NX‑SDK

  • DME, Device YANG, OpenConfig YANG

  • gRPC, NETCONF, RESTCONF

NXAPI CLI and NETCONF over SSH remain supported.

Open Issues

Known software conditions include:

  • CSCwh76275 — 9364‑GX2A may discard multicast traffic; no workaround.

  • CSCwi92006 — FX2 platform interfaces may show 0 pps; no workaround.

  • CSCvz06811 — Data Broker switch floods IGMPv3 queries; workaround: filter IGMP with ACLs.

  • CSCwd75778 — gRPC port 50051 may fail in non‑default VRFs; no workaround.

  • CSCwd75851 — /nxos/xlog may fill on repeated config saves; workaround: avoid simultaneous saves.

  • CSCwd41247 — samcproxy deadlock may prevent tasks; workaround: debug access required.

  • CSCwf13179 — VLAN filter with ACL ‘log’ may suspend VLANs; workaround: configure loopback.

  • CSCwf42887 — VXLAN storm‑control policer may not update after link flap; workaround: disable EVPN storm‑control.

  • CSCwh56979 — High CPU due to nxpython3 with LLDP; workaround: adjust LLDP logging.

  • CSCwf34104 — SMU may not activate after reload/panic; workaround: reload to commit SMU.

  • CSCvw16064 — Syslog now uses NILVALUE for STRUCTURED‑DATA and MSGID to comply with RFC 5424.
