Overview

This document provides essential information for NX‑OS Release 11.2(1k) for Nexus 9000 Series switches operating in ACI mode. It includes supported hardware and fabric extenders, new and changed information, installation guidance, compatibility notes, usage recommendations, and known behaviors. This maintenance update builds on earlier 11.2 releases with additional hardware support and operational fixes.

Software Features

For detailed software features, see the APIC 1.2(1k) controller release notes associated with this ACI software.

Installation Guidance

To install or replace a pluggable module:

  1. Clear the switch’s current configuration.
  2. Power off the switch.
  3. Install or replace the hardware module.
  4. Power the switch back on.

Refer to the ACI fabric hardware installation guide for complete procedures.

Compatibility Notes

  • Only use optics and modules that are supported for the specific device models.
  • Unsupported third‑party optics may behave unpredictably.
  • Link‑level flow control is not supported on ACI‑mode switches.
  • Fabric uplink ports should not be used as fabric extender ports.
  • A 10G interface is required on leaf nodes for controller connectivity.

Usage Guidelines

  • Ensure required control and management protocols are permitted through fabric contracts.
  • Avoid direct physical connections between switches from different ACI fabrics.
  • Verify MACsec and CloudSec compatibility if used.
  • Follow supported optics and breakout configuration rules to avoid hardware issues.

Known Behaviors and Issues

This release includes behaviors and caveats that may affect operations:

  • Fabric extender diagnostic information may not always be visible.
  • Some interface and control commands can behave differently due to the underlying shell.
  • Certain multicast and packet handling behaviors may be observed under specific conditions.
  • Routing and endpoint learning events may not always reflect expected output in some cases.

Refer to the official release documentation for complete details if needed.
