E.ON, one of the four German big utility companies, has once fought ferociously against the phase out of nuclear and tried to delay spread of renewable energies as much as possible.
However, E.ON finally recognized that spread of renewable energies is people's demand, and that, therefore, it is inevitable and unstoppable.
E.ON has now changed its strategy dramatically and is now trying to play a key part in this historic transformation from conventional concentrated power generation to distributed power generation of renewable energies.
As the share of renewable energies increases, a harmonious integration of the fluctuating electricity from renewable energies to the power grid is becoming an important task, which requires compensation capacities especially energy storage.
In the video introduced here, E.ON is providing a presentation about various ways of energy storage that it is implementing, including pumped hydro, hydrogen energy storage, synthetic natural gas, compressed air energy storage, thermal energy storage, and storage batteries.
E.ON says, "Only someone who bears responsibility for tomorrow can take the right decisions today."
E.ON's corporate strategy will be a great precedent for other utility companies worldwide.
