According to news reports, TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Company) is planning to increase their import of LNG and construct more thermal power stations to cope with the shortage of electricity.
However, the situation of the Middle East is getting unstable because of democratization movements there. Therefore, the increase of dependence on import of energy sources would pose a serious energy security problem for Japan.
Renewable energies such as solar power and wind power should be promoted to establish the independent and stable energy supplies.
