Front Routine Sequence 1

Sun Salutation → One-Legged One Armed Downward Facing Dog


Usage&Effects

The benefits of Downward Dog—it strengthens the arms and legs, creates space in the torso for better organ function, and rests the brain—are all present, but with one leg and one arm up in the air, One-Legged One-Armed Downward Facing Dog offers the further benefits and fun challenges that come from working with an asymmetrical balance.

Basic postures (in order of performance)

1.Perform Sun Salutation into Downward Facing Dog

2.  From Downward-Facing Dog Pose, go into One Legged Downward Facing Dog Pose. (One leg at a time)

3. Go into One Legged One Armed Downward Facing Dog (raise opposite arm of raised leg)

4. Performing sun salutation going backward from
Downward Facing Dog→Upward Facing Dog→Downward Facing Dog
Go back into Mountain Pose

Breathing Sequence in One Legged One Armed Downward Facing Dog

Starting from Downward Facing Dog

1. Inhale into One Legged Downward Facing Dog
(Do one cycle of breathing in this pose)

2. Inhale into One Legged One Armed Downward Facing Dog

3. Do Three Breathing Cycles in One Legged One Armed Downward Facing Dog.

4. Exhale into Downward Facing Dog.
