ドアーズ の『モリソン・ホテル』のCDを買った。以前持っていたLPレコードは、数年前に売ってしまった。彼らの最高傑作は、『ストレンジ・デイズ 』だと思うけれど、各オリジナルアルバムには名曲が必ず入っていて、『モリソン・ホテル』には、「ピース・フロッグ」、「ブルー・サンデイ」、「インディアン・サマー 」が収録されている。代表曲「ジ・エンド」や、27歳で亡くなったせいもあって、ヴォーカルのジム・モリソンには死や終末のイメージがついてまわるが、ジム自身はこんな発言もしている。
「喜びを純粋に表現したような曲をやりたい。この世に存在することを祝うように純粋な。春の訪れや朝日みたいな曲を」
「インディアン・サマー 」を聴くたびに、ジム・モリソンのこの言葉を思い出す。
I've just bought a CD of Morrison Hotel by The Doors because I sold an LP record of the album a few years ago. Their best album is presumably Strange Days, but each original album has excellent songs. Morrison Hotel also includes "Peace Frog," "Blue Sunday," and "Indian Summer." Listening to "Indian Summer," I always remember what Jim Morrison said during an interview in the film The Doors Are Open. "I'd like to do a song or a piece of music that's just a pure expression of joy. Pure like a celebration of existence, you know? And like the coming of spring, like a sun rising."
