So the wife has finally forced convinced me to do a workout program with her. Unfortunately for me, she had to pick the most intense workout she could think of! That’s right, it’s good ‘ol P90X . Now, my reservations for this are numerous. But I am going to try it. As I sit here writing this, the biggest thing I am nervous about being able to overcome, is the diet. Maybe I should start with a back story about who I am. In case you are curious.

I am a 29 year old, father of 1 (and only 1). If you didn’t notice by my beginning sentence, I am married. 11 years ago I joined the Air Force. At the time of joining, I was literally right on the edge of being “overweight”, but Air Force standards. I am 6’0″ tall, and at that time, I weighed in at 193lbs. OOFDA (yeah right, that’s below my target weight right now). After the 6 week walk in the park Basic Training, I was down to an all time low, 167lbs.

While this was great, this was also my first time being out on my own, making my own money and choosing my own meals. Unfortunately I chose wrong. I ate out just about every meal, and meals I did not eat out, I was eating a Hungry Man. Not exactly the healthiest choice!

Right now, I am almost breaking the legs off this chair with my 233lb body mass. I weigh 70lbs more now, than 11 years ago. It’s crazy to think about that. Now, while I do not wish to be 167lbs again (I was a stick), I also do not wish to be 233lbs (or more). It’s sad when I have to tell my son that I have to take a break after playing with him for just a few minutes, because I am so out of shape.

So, P90X to the rescue! I have tried many a diet… OK I have tried A diet many times. I tried the Southbeach Diet. This is like Atkins, with a different name. It sucks, especially if you are like me, and you do not like vegetables or anything else healthy. P90X appears to be decent eating, but I am still worried that I’ll digress. I shall do my best tho, and we’ll just have to see how it goes.
