(1) litigious

It is sad sign of our times that we are becoming a more litigious society.

→ litigation(訴訟)と関連がありそうな言葉です。

litigious: very willing to take disagreements to a court of law - often used to show disapproval

(2) bluffing

Such lack of information leads to bluffing and then to major abuse of power.

bluff: to pretend something, especially in order to achieve what you want in a difficult or dangerous situation(by LDCE)

(3) be on the line

If the insurers can find a way of not paying, they will, and then the director's personal and family wealth is on the line.

be at riskが同義でしょうか。

be on the line: something important is on the line, there is a risk that you might lose it or something bad could happen to it(by LDCE)
