金曜日朝の通勤時間、満員の列車とトラックが踏切で衝突。
最初は、テロ事件ではないかと、政府も調査したようです。
調べると、飲酒や違反経験の多い運転手が、遮断機を越えて線路に侵入し衝突。列車には、約800人が乗り、時速80Kmでで走っていたそうです。

Brad and Dan didn't know each other until this morning, when they were sitting together on the train. Both were headed downtown to work.

"The flames and smoke were instantaneous. The scariest thing was that we didn’t know if it was a bomb or something else.

"We were right next to the emergency exit, and the people that were sitting by the window ran as soon as it happened," he said.
私たちは、非常口（窓）のとなりに座ってた。事故と同時にみんな走った。
"We stopped, calmed ourselves down, pulled the window out and helped some of the people get out."
それを止めて、冷静になり非常窓を開けて、何人かを外に出した。
"I knew today was going to be a weird day when this strange guy sat next to me on the train and said good morning," Maschmeier joked. "Nobody says that in here on the train.
今日は、んな日になりそうって思ったよ、隣に座った見知らぬ人が「おはよう」って言ったから。ここじゃ、車内でだれもそんな事言わないしね、と冗談。
This was one of those times in your life when you find out if you are willing and able to do something when something bad happens. It came up and we kept a level head.
何か悪いことが起きたときに、自分が何か出来るかどうか、わかるけど、今回は気を確かに持ってた。
"This will link the two of us for the rest of our lives. "
このことで、これからの人生、二人は知り合い同士になるだろ。
死傷者もでるたいへんな事故だったけど、冗談も載せるなど、新聞の口調も日本とはちがうような感じがします。
