But if that didn’t happen to you, that’s okay, because there are stepsyou can take to increase your chances of throwing a strike. For instance, if yourball is hooking too far to one side, you may just need to adjust how you throw.Then again, you may need to increase your pin action or work on throwing thesame shot time and time again. We give you the lowdown on all three tacticsfor increasing your odds of throwing a strike in the sections that follow.Adjusting how you throwEveryone bowls a little differently, so what works for one bowler may notwork for you. If you notice that you’re not getting strikes, you have to be ableto stop and adjust how you bowl.The following tips can help you adjust your throw:✓ Pay attention to where your ball hits the pins. Where is it hitting thepins if not the pocket? Is it rolling too far to the left or too far to the right?Move your starting spot a few boards to the right or to the left and seewhether that fixes the problem.✓ Put it on paper. Ask a bowling coach or a member of the bowling center’sstaff to show you on paper what you’re doing wrong and how to adjust it.This way you can see what you’re doing and get an overview of where theball is going, which gives you a better understanding of how you need toadjust your shot.✓ Watch where the ball rolls over the arrows. Lane markings give youa precise idea of how far to move over if you’re missing the mark.Depending on the hand you bowl with and whether you’re a straight orhook bowler, move a little to the right or left and keep adjusting until theball rolls exactly where you want it to.
