The 37-year-old center appeared in 72 games and tallied 17 goals and 17 assists to go along with a plus-13 rating.Much like Gill, it's difficult to imagine Arnott receiving anything more than a one-year deal from interested clubs. But he's still valuable on the power play (six of his goals came via the man advantage) and can still hold his own in the faceoff circle.Jordin Tootoo, NashvilleFor a team in search of a fourth-line winger, it would be hard-pressed to find someone who fits the role better than Tootoo. While he's only 5-foot-9, the 29-year-old plays much bigger.Tootoo only scored six goals in 77 games for Nashville in 2011-12, but he's pesky and sticks up for his teammates. (AP) - The Washington Capitals have traded All-Star defenseman Dennis Wideman to the Calgary Flames for a fifth-round pick in the 2013 NHL draft and minor league defenseman Jordan Henry.Wideman had 11 goals and 35 assists in 82 games for Washington last season. He was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, but agreed to a five-year contract with Calgary on Wednesday.Henry had two goals, nine assists and 97 penalty minutes in 68 games in the AHL last season. He also can enter free agency.
The New York Islanders on Wednesday named Brent Thompson as an assistant coach.Thompson coached the Isles' AHL farm team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers,Ray Ban Discount Sunglasses Aviators, to their first division championship in 10 years during the 2011-12 season with a 41-26-9 record. He spent the previous two seasons coaching the Alaska Aces of the ECHL, leading the team to the Kelly Cup in his second season while earning coach of the year honors."Brent did a great job in Bridgeport last year molding our young prospects into a division-winning team,Black Pink RayBan Sunglasses," Islanders general manager Garth Snow said in a statement. The Edmonton Oilers announced Wednesday that associate coach Ralph Krueger will take over the head-coaching duties next season.Krueger takes over a team that hasn't reached the postseason since 2006 or finished higher than 14th in the Western Conference the past three seasons.
