CLEVELAND - Dustin Tokarski stopped all 31 shots he faced as the Hamilton Bulldogs blanked the Lake Erie Monsters 2-0 on Saturday in American Hockey League action.Greg Pateryn and Michael Bournival both scored in the first period to give Hamilton (22-27-6) all the offence it needed.Calvin Pickard made 26 saves for Lake Erie (26-22-9).Both teams struggled on the power play. The Bulldogs couldn't score on their three man advantages, while the Monsters couldn't connect on their five power plays.
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Still headache-free and with his short-term memory completely returned, Evgeni Malkin went through a full-contact practice with many of his Pittsburgh Penguins teammates Sunday.Malkin, who has missed the past four games due to a concussion, said he "felt pretty good" immediately after the workout at a suburban rink.Coach Dan Bylsma said the next step was for Malkin to pass an imPACT test. The team did not rule out a return Monday when the Penguins host the Tampa Bay Lightning, but Malkin indicated he'd prefer more time.Malkin was speaking to the media for the first time since he was injured colliding with the boards during a win over Florida on Feb. 22. He has skated on his own twice since.
GLENDALE, Ariz. - Steve Sullivan scored the tying goal with 6:28 remaining in regulation and then netted the lone goal in the shootout to lift the Phoenix Coyotes past the Anaheim Ducks 5-4 on Saturday night.Lauri Korpikoski scored twice, Matthew Lombardi added a goal, and Mike Smith stopped 31 shots through overtime and then all three shootout attempts for the Coyotes, who won for the second time in three games.Andrew Cogliano had three goals for his second NHL hat trick, and Saku Koivu added a goal and an assist for the Ducks, who lost for just the fifth time in 20 games.The teams were playing the first of three consecutive games against each other.
