＜ヒットの記録＞ １９７６年のアルバム「スピリット Spirit」からは、「ゲッタウェイ」、「サタデイ・ナイト」がヒット。１９７８年の「太陽神 All'N All」からは、「宇宙のファンタジー」が大ヒット。この頃から、彼らはファンク・バンドからディスコを意識したポップ・バンドへと変わり始めます。映画「サージェント・ペパーズ・ロンリー・ハーツ・クラブ・バンド」では、ビートルズのカバー曲"Got Get To Into My Life"をヒットさせ、１９７９年にはアルバム「黙示録 I Am」から「アフター・ザ・ラブ・ハズ・ゴーン」、「ブギー・ワンダー・ランド」をヒットさせます。しかし、バンドの成長に大きな役割を果たしたプロデューサーのチャールズ・ステップニーが、１９７５年に心臓発作で亡くなってしまったこともあり、しだいにその方向性は変わってゆきました。 その後も「ファイセス Faces」（１９８０年）、「天空の女神 Raise」（１９８１年）、「創世紀 Powerlight」（１９８３年）とヒット・アルバムを発表しますが、その後５年間、彼らは活動休止期間に入ります。と言っても、彼らはバンド活動以外にソロとしての活動を続けていました。特にフィリップ・ベイリー Philip Bailyは、その間３枚のソロ・アルバムを発表し、フィル・コリンズとのデュエット「イージー・ラヴァー Easy Lover」（１９８４年）は全米ナンバー１ヒットとなりました。 リーダーのモーリス・ホワイト Maurice Whiteも、１９８５年にソロ・アルバム「モーリス・ホワイト/スタンド・バイ・ミー」を発表しています。それ以外のメンバーも、それぞれプロデューサーやゲスト・ミュージシャンとしていろいろなジャンルで活躍しました。 １９８８年に彼らは久々のアルバム"Touch The World"を出します。しかし、そのアルバムは、内容も売上もパットせず、かつての勢いを失っていました。
