With the Tablet, Apple Will Rule the World
スティーブ・ジョブズとアラン・ケイの間でこんな話があったようだ。
彼の言ったのは、ちょうど iPad 位のサイズだね。
でも、ぼくは、スティーブは聞くまでもなくその製品に対する戦略は手の内にあったと思う。
iPod touch や iPhone は、その布石という位置づけだったんじゃないかと思うようになった。
iPod touch を見た瞬間に、iPhone は連想できたけど、iPad までは考えが及ばなかったなぁ・・・。
ほんとのこというと、ぼくの場合、単純にiPhone では、字が読めなかっただけなんだよね。

I interviewed Kay late last year, and while he didn’t mention the tablet by name, he did share a story about the unveiling of the iPhone, to which Steve Jobs invited him in early 2007:
"When the Mac first came out, Newsweek asked me what I [thought] of it. I said: Well, it’s the first personal computer worth criticizing. So at the end of the presentation, Steve came up to me and said: Is the iPhone worth criticizing? And I said: Make the screen five inches by eight inches, and you’ll rule the world."
It’s not just the screen size of Apple’s upcoming tablet that will please Kay, but the fact that Apple is reportedly selling its tablet with a 3G data plan.・・・
