なぜならあなたにはやり遂げる力があるのだから
LOVEBITESのファーストアルバム「Awakening from Abyss」は名作だというのが、多くのファンの意見であろう。
もちろん私も同意見です。
しかし実はアルバムの前半はやや弱いと私は思っています。
ただ中盤から後半にかけての盛り上がりが素晴らしく、11曲目には名曲「Edge of the World」、そしてアルパムの有終の美を飾るのが、はるぴーことドラムのharuna渾身の名曲であるこの「Bravehearted (Awakened Version)」なのです。
元々この曲は、はるぴーが以前在籍していたバンドのDestrose用に書いたものらしいが、miho と共にLOVEBITESを結成し、最初のミニアルバム「THE LOVEBITES EP」に唯一の日本語詞の曲として収録されます。
そして英語詞にして演奏も向上させたこの曲が(Awakened Version) としてファーストアルバムに収録されたわけです。
ということで「THE LOVEBITES EP」の方ですでに日本語詞になっているのに、なぜ私がこの英詞(Awakened Version) の和訳なんぞしているかというと、「THE LOVEBITES EP」バージョンの日本詞はかなり独特な言い回しになっていて、英語詞の(Awakened Version)とは言語の違いだけでなく世界観も少し違うんですよね。
Awakened Version の方が明るい世界観といいましょうか。
ですから私の意訳は「THE LOVEBITES EP」バージョンの日本詞とは結構ちがっていて、そういうところは面白いです。
ファンの人は持っているかもしれませんが、ご興味がある方は「THE LOVEBITES EP」も購入して聴いてみてください。
さて、この曲もLOVEBITESらしい前向きな歌詞と疾走感で、すばらしいですな。
コーラス(サビ)頭の Glory to the brave のような分かりやすく覚えやすい歌詞はいいです。
ただ私の和訳がしっくりこなかったので、ここだけは「THE LOVEBITES EP」バージョンの日本語詞を使いました。
咲き誇れ孤高の華ですね。
曲の最後の Power is in your hand という言葉からアウトロの演奏も美しく、この曲がファーストアルバムを聴き終えた時の満足感を高めている気がします。
ちなみに現在、バンドの作曲の中心となっているmiyakoの作る曲はもちろん素晴らしいのですが、やっぱりはるぴーがもう少し作曲に関わってくれると、より一層バンドに化学変化が起こるかもしれないんじゃないかと、Bravehearted を聴くと思ってしまいますな。
