プロサッカー選手の三浦知良 (みうらかずよし、カズ) 選手は、2020年で53歳ですが未だにプロとしてＪ１という日本の最高峰でプレーしています。
称賛の声がある一方で、「集客効果があるだけでプレーはプロに値しないから引退するべきだ」という批判の声もあります。
三浦選手がもっと早く引退していたら、現在の批判の声がない状態で日本サッカー界の伝説となれたでしょう。
しかし、この曲「Heroes End」がジューダスプリーストからの「引退するな」という答えなのかもしれません。
ここの部分の意訳も難しいのですが、「but once」 は 「しかし昔のことで、今は違う」 と考え、昔というのは「強者が、生き残るか弱者になるかという二者択一の世界」だったということで、今は二者択一ではなく両方だと、つまり弱者になったまま生き残るという意味だと解釈しました。
