アカナマダ科（テングノタチ属、アカナマダ属）、フリソデウオ科（フリソデウオ属、サケガシラ属、ユキフリソデウオ属）、リュウグウノツカイ科（リュウグウノツカイ属）の初期仔魚の形態と識別点について検討中。
みんな良く似ているので、誤同定されてきた歴史的経緯がある。上図中の２枚の図の仔魚が誤同定の可能性がある。
すなわち、Bruce C. Mundy 博士からの私信〔Facebook コメント 20210520〕によると、Roberts (2012) が次の２点を指摘しているとのこと（私はこの Roberts の総説は未読）。
①Sparta (1933) がリュウグウノツカイ属としている仔魚は、３本の腹鰭軟条を持つことから、アカナマダ属の可能性がある
②Sanzo (1940) がアカナマダ属としている各腹鰭に１本の軟条を持ち、尾部棒状骨にある黒色素帯の前部の、尾部を横切る黒色素帯をもつ仔魚はアカナマダ属ではなく、サケガシラ属あるいはリュウグウノツカイ属の可能性がある。
Roberts (2012) による２点の指摘について、私も同意する。その根拠は以下の通りである。
①については、Connell (2012) （下掲）およびOkaら（2020）によりリュウグウノツカイ属、川上（2012）によりアカナマダ属の仔魚の形態が明らかになった。
・リュウグウノツカイ属の仔魚は、尾部のほぼ中央の背・腹の黒色素斑が対になるのが特徴であることが判明した（Connell, 2012およびOkaら, 2020）。
・アカナマダ属の仔魚は尾部の背面にのみ黒色素斑（２カ所）がある（川上, 2012）。
②そしてSanzo (1940) がアカナマダ属としている仔魚は、尾部のほぼ中央の背・腹の黒色素斑が対になっていることから、リュウグウノツカイ属となる。
とすると、Olney (2006a,b,c) や Fahay (2007) の訂正が必要になると思われる。
