NativeSpeaker: Yes,I'mtired. IcOUldn'tsleepwelllastnight.ItwassOmUggy.
Our student: Pardon??
Native Speaker: I said, "I couldn't sleep well last night. (Because) It was so muggy."
Our student: Muggy??
Native Speaker: Yes, it means 'warm and very humid'.
Our student: Humid??
Native Speaker: Yes.
Our student: Sorry??...
Native Speaker: It means the air is very wet.

Secret 2.To Listen Carefully to What the Partner Says
Native Speaker: Yes, I'm tired. IcOUldn'tsleepwelllastnight.ItwassOmUggy.
Our student: Pardon??
Native Speaker: I said, "I couldn't sleep well last night. (Because)It was so muggy."
--------------------------------
Now, the student was able to understand "Yes, I'm tired."
since the native speaker said it slowly and clealy this time.
However, the next two sentences were too fast for her to follow, too.
But here again she coped with the problem successfully, saying
"Pardon??" immediately.
Like this, it is important for the students to say "Pardon??", "Sorry??"
and the like immediately, when they cannot follow what has been said,
and to listen carefully to what the partner says.
The students should not be at a loss, nor should they be troubled by the
lack of their listening skills.

Our student: Muggy??
Native Speaker: Yes, it means 'warm and very humid'.
Our student: Humid??
Native Speaker: Yes.
Our student: Sorry??...
Native Speaker: It means the air is very wet.
