聞き取れない時は
英語や 「会話英語」 しか習ったことがない人が、
日本語の全く分からない外国人と本番の英会話をしなければならなくなったとします。
そうすると必ずと言ってよいほど聞き取れない語句や文が出てくるでしょう。
いや、聞き取れない語句や文のほうが多いかもしれません。
そうしたら、その人はどうするでしょう？
黙ってうつむいて苦しむしかないようです。
そうして、その人は後日、「英会話」 の先生にこの問題をどう解決したらよいか相談す
るでしょう。
このような場合、先生方はほとんど皆、自然なスピードやさらに速く崩れた発音の英語
や英会話教材を買って、聞き取り練習をもっと徹底的にすることをお勧めになったり、
英語のテレビニュースや洋画や海外ドラマをもっとたくさん見て、聞き取り練習をするこ
とをお勧めになったりするでしょう。
このような先生方は、本物の 「英（語）会話」 の先生ではありません。
「会話英語」 の先生ではあられても。
ですから、本物の 「英（語）会話」 に上達するためには、このような助言を真に受けては
いけません。

When They Cannot Catch the English Spoken.
When Japanese who have learned English as a foreign language are conversing
in English with a person from abroad, they will come across a number of words
and phrases which they cannot catch.
Then, what will they do?
Most of them will have no choice but to fall into a silent agony of despair, because
they are mistaking the situation for a test taking one.
And later on, many of them will ask 'English conversation' teachers what they
should do to solve their listening problem.
The typical answers of those teachers will be as follows:
1) to buy a self-teacing listening material of natural speed or even faster and unclear
Engish and to practice it thoroughly.
2) to watch many more news (shows), dramas, movies etc. in English on TV or on video
listening more carefully.
