Native Speaker: I'mtIred.

Our student: mtIred??

Native Speaker: Yes, I'm tired.  IcOUldn'tsleepwelllastnight.

     ItwassOmUggy.

Our student: Pardon??

Native Speaker: I said, "I couldn't sleep well last night.  (Because)

     It was so muggy."

Our student: Muggy??

Native Speaker: Yes, it means 'warm and very humid'.

Our student: Humid??

Native Speaker: Yes.

Our student: Sorry??...

Native Speaker: It means the air is very wet.

Secret 3.To Use Natural Non-verbal Messages

Native Speaker: I'mtIred.

Our student: mtIred??

Native Speaker: Yes, I'm tired.  IcOUldn'tsleepwelllastnight.

     ItwassOmUggy.

Our student: Pardon??

Native Speaker: I said, "I couldn't sleep well last night.  (Because)

     It was so muggy."

---------------------------------

By the way, so far, I have given a double question mark, "??"
to the problem-solving expressions
students should use when they can not catch
their partner's words accurately.

This is because we want the students to say such expressions with a really asking mind
(like that of "What did you say?") facing toward the partner.

This will make very natural and helpful the students' non-verbal messages
including their eye contact with the partner, their facial expressions, their gestures,
their attitude and what you have when they say such expressions.
