I was curious after some of you mentioned it, so I decided to read it :). I was having a craving for soup AND pasta, so I decided to rummage around my pantry and fridge and see what I could come up with. "Pomegranate Soup": I read "Pomegranate Soup" by Marsha Mehran last month which tells the story of three Iranian sisters and their survival in Ireland with a secret from the past which haunts them wherever they move. For my birthday one year my wife took me to lunch at one of my favorite restaurants - Fronterra Grill. This is a delicious soup that is both sweet, tart and savory. I have been wanting to make this dish for a very long time but I could never find the pomegranate molasses I needed to make this. Feel free to pick and choose from the garnishes listed below. This wasn't a bad book, but it wasn't a particularly memorable one either. I decided to make two recipes: a split pea pomegranate soup (usually has some lamb as well) and a sweet Persian rice.
