Sanuki udon are udon noodles from Kagawa Prefecture.
讃岐うどんというのは、香川県のうどんです。
They are named after the prefecture's former name.
香川の昔の地名にちなんだ名称です。
Udon remains extremely popular in Kagawa Prefecture with over 700 Sanuki Udon restaurants across the prefecture.
香川県には700軒もの讃岐うどん店があり、県民から愛されているのです。
The testure of Sanuki Udon's noodles is what makes them unique.
讃岐うどんの麺の食感は独特です。
By the way, what I think nice about traveling is that I can learn history of the place just by walking around; I saw many "Sanuki" letters in the city yesterday such as in bridge name.
ところで、私が旅はいいなと感じる理由の一つに、ただ街を歩いているだけでその街の歴史を感じられるというところがあります。昨日も、橋の名前などいたるところで「讃岐」の文字を見ました。

岡山県倉敷市児島と香川県坂出市を結ぶルートが、瀬戸大橋。
兵庫県神戸市と徳島県鳴門市を結ぶルートが、上にかかる明石海峡大橋と下にかかる大鳴門橋です。
