京都府宇治市にある下居神社です。
宇治地域の古社のひとつ。
琵琶台口バス停から徒歩5分ほど、JR宇治駅から徒歩20分ほど。
額田王と言う飛鳥時代の日本の皇族・歌人で女性の歌碑もあり、皇極天皇とともに宇治を訪れたときに詠んだ歌といわれる。調べる前は男性と思ってました😅
バス停からすぐに鳥居が見え、進んでいくと住宅街に突入。
そしてまた鳥居が現れます。
近くの公園も趣があって良いですね。
木々にに囲まれた下居神社、涼しくてボーッと長時間居れれるほどの心地いい空間。
人も少なく静かで好きな場所ですね。
Shimoi Shrine is located in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture.
One of the ancient shrines in the Uji area.
It's about a 5-minute walk from the Biwadaiguchi bus stop, or a 20-minute walk from JR Uji Station.
There is also a monument to a female poet and Japanese member of the Asuka period, Nukata no Okimi, who is said to have composed a poem when she visited Uji with Empress Kogyoku. Before I looked it up, I thought it was a man. 😅
You can see the torii gate right from the bus stop, and as you go further, you will enter a residential area.
And then another torii gate appears.
The nearby park is also very quaint.
Shimoi Shrine is surrounded by trees, and it's a comfortable space where you can stay for a long time in a cool and relaxed atmosphere.
There are few people and it's quiet, so I like it.
