Reflection of Presentation on “Human Security”
I learned some positive things from the presentation on “Human Security”. I reflect my presentation on this paper.
First, I reflect my reading process. There are three strategies which deepen my understanding of the text. First is summary of the text, second is group discussion and third is tutorial, forth is researching.
Firstly, summary of the text is one of three strategies which deepen my understanding. By summarizing the text, I could identify main point of the text and the process how the text is organized. To identify the main point leads to understand what writer want to say more clearly. Therefore, summary of the text is useful strategies to deepen my understanding of the text.
Secondly, group discussion is also helping understanding the text. By group discussion, we can share own information and comprehensive with friends. To share the opinion leads to deeper consider the content of the text. If I have the question in the text, I can ask friends in the discussion. Also, if friends ask the question, I can help friends understanding. This corporation is effective to deepen my understanding of the text. Therefore, group discussion helps my understanding.
Thirdly, tutorial also supported to deepen my understanding of the text. If there is the point of the text that any people in group does not understand, in tutorial we can receive helping from teacher. By tutorial I could understand the content of the text clearly.
Forth is researching the back ground and examples of the content on the text. By researching it, I could understand some abstract points of text. For example, I could know the difference between refugees and internally displaced parsons. Also, I was able to understand the meaning of expression in the text. For example, “donors” suggests helping of developed countries such as ODA, NGO. Also, researching real examples supported my understanding of the text. By researching it, I could more image the content of the text. For example, by knowing the serious lifestyle of refugees and the number of population of refugees and IDPs, I could understand that content of the text connected with today’s problem.
Next, I reflect my presentation preparation process. When I researched information of “people on the move”, I tried to get the information about migration that was interesting for audience. I considered that information which people could have more interest in was current issue, so I decided to present about definition and current issue refugees and internally displaced parsons. The topic that I was most interested in is the Gulf War that was starting point of argument about protecting internally displaced parsons. This topic was connected with international issues, so I deemed that this topic promoted audience’s understanding of the text.
Finally, I am pleased with what I did during the presentation process, because even our group had only one week for preparation of the presentation, we could do our best on our presentation. The reason why we could do our best on our presentation is efficient process of preparation of the presentation and corporation with group member. I will introduce our process of preparation of the presentation. First, we discussed the question in the text, organize the process of presentation and divide individual part. Second, we summarized the text and researched the background and real example in the internet and shared each opinion and information. Third, we went to tutorial in order to ask advice for our presentation. By advice from teacher, we could arrive the definite organization of our presentation. Forth, we created visual aids of our presentation sharing google docs. Also, we considered the script of our presentation. Finally, we went to tutorial and rehearsed our presentation. By helping from teacher we revised our presentation and practiced. That is all process of our preparation of presentation. I reflect that most important thing on efficient preparation of presentation is the corporation with group member. Therefore, I am pleased with it by the corporation with group member.
In conclusion, by presentation I could deepen my understanding of the text and learned the importance of corporation with group member. In inter future, I will put points that I could learned from this presentation to do good presentation. Also. I would like to more improve my presentation skills and become a good presenter.
